Your health data is personal. We do not sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than providing the features of this app.
1. Who We Are
Staying Strong & Healthy ("we," "us," or "our") is a wellness application designed to support men living with prostate cancer who are undergoing Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT). 2. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address and password (used for authentication via Firebase)
- Display name and optional profile photo
- Optional "About Me" biography
- Your role within the app (standard user or expert)
Health & Fitness Data (only with your explicit permission)
- Step count, active energy burned, heart rate, and body weight — read from Apple HealthKit on your device
- Workout sessions synced from Apple Health (type, duration, date)
- Daily energy level check-ins you submit within the app
- Symptom logs (ratings for fatigue, hot flashes, mood, and similar symptoms) you submit within the app
Community Content
- Messages and posts you submit to the community chat
- Direct messages you send to other users
Usage Data
- App crash reports and anonymous usage diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics
- Device type and iOS version for compatibility purposes
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide core app features: Tracking weekly exercise goals, displaying health metrics, saving symptom logs, and enabling community communication.
- To personalise your experience: Showing your progress rings, energy trends, and leaderboard position.
- To maintain app security: Authenticating your account and protecting against unauthorised access.
- To improve the app: Analysing anonymised usage patterns to fix bugs and improve features.
- To send notifications: Reminders about weekly goal summaries or community activity, if you have enabled notifications.
4. Apple HealthKit Data
Health data accessed from Apple HealthKit is used solely to power the in-app health metrics display and weekly goal tracking. This data is never used for advertising, never shared with third-party analytics platforms, and never sold.
We access the following HealthKit data types (with your permission):
- Steps, Active Energy Burned, Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, Body Weight
- Workout sessions (type, start/end time, duration)
You can revoke this access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Staying Strong & Healthy.
5. How We Store Your Data
Your account information, workout logs, symptom logs, and community posts are stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore, a cloud database service. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Profile photos are stored in Google Firebase Storage.
Health metrics read from Apple HealthKit are processed on-device and a summary is displayed within the app. Raw HealthKit samples are not uploaded to our servers.
6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with advertisers or marketing companies.
We may share data in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, analytics) processes data on our behalf under their privacy commitments.
- Within the app community: Your display name, profile photo, and community posts are visible to other registered users. Direct messages are visible only to the recipient.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect the safety of users, we may disclose information to appropriate authorities.
7. Community Content & Leaderboard
Your display name, profile photo, total workout count, and total workout minutes are visible to other users of the app via the community leaderboard. If you do not wish to appear in the leaderboard, please contact us and we will remove your entry.
Community chat messages are visible to all registered users. Please do not post personally sensitive health information in the community chat.
8. Children's Privacy
This app is intended for adults (18 years and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
9. Your Rights & Choices
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: You can update your display name, photo, and bio directly within the app profile settings.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing support@stayingstrongandhealthy.com. Deletion is completed within 30 days.
- Health permissions: You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings without deleting your account.
- Notifications: You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings → Notifications → Staying Strong & Healthy.
10. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, all personal data is permanently erased within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
